What year did you first start practicing yoga?
Was there any particular reason you started practicing yoga?
I had some musculoskeletal issues and needed an invigorating exercise that was also low impact. I wanted something different than working out at the gym.
Favorite posture and why?
It changes all the time! One consistently favorite posture is Pada Hastasana – Hands to Feet. I love how it wakes my spine, opens my shoulders and compresses the abdomen. The mental aspect of trying to straighten my lower spine and touch my head to my feet keeps me after it! A close second is Cobra Pose…
Why do you currently practice this yoga?
To attain and maintain a healthier lifestyle. In my opinion, yoga combined with healthy eating (without giving up ice cream) and regular activity is the key to me for a happy life.
What do you love about teaching yoga?
Absolutely everything. I love the moments when I realize how much I’m learning by teaching and when someone tells me after class that they feel better. I also love listening to different students on their specific strengths and weaknesses and their varying health and anatomy issues, so interesting!
Two things most people don’t know about you?
I love rainy days as much as sunny ones. I spend a lot of time trying to discover new (to me) music, going through phases with different genres from everything from oldies to electronic.
